At MTBMap Nordic, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by MTBMap Nordic and how we use it.

Log Files
MTBMap Nordic follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they use app. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the app, tracking users' movement on the app, and gathering demographic information.
Health Connect (Android only)
This section applies only to the MTBMap Nordic app for Android. The iOS app does not use Health Connect; it uses Apple HealthKit instead, which is described in the next section.
What we write
When you finish a ride in the Android app, MTBMap Nordic saves it to Health Connect as a cycling exercise session, together with the ride's distance, elevation gained, and GPS route. The permissions used for this are:

What we read
MTBMap Nordic reads cycling exercise sessions from Health Connect, together with their distance and elevation totals and, when Health Connect supplies it with the session, that session's GPS route. The permissions used for this are:
android.permission.health.READ_EXERCISE

android.permission.health.READ_ELEVATION_GAINED
The purpose is so that rides you recorded in another app or on another device appear in MTBMap Nordic's own ride list, and so that your ride history survives reinstalling the app. Imported rides, including their route, are saved to the app's local database so they can be shown on the map alongside rides you recorded in MTBMap Nordic. Only sessions of exercise type BIKING are used. Sessions of every other exercise type, and every other Health Connect data type, are ignored and never read.
The Wear OS watch app
The MTBMap Nordic watch app writes a ride you record on the watch to Health Connect as a cycling exercise session, in the same form as the phone app. It uses android.permission.health.WRITE_EXERCISE, android.permission.health.WRITE_EXERCISE_ROUTE, android.permission.health.WRITE_DISTANCE, and android.permission.health.WRITE_ELEVATION_GAINED. The watch app does not read any exercise data out of Health Connect.
The watch app also declares android.permission.health.READ_HEART_RATE. On Wear OS 6 and later, this is the permission that lets the watch's own heart-rate sensor supply a live reading while you ride, through Wear OS Health Services. Your current heart rate is shown on the watch during the ride, and on the phone screen when the two are paired. Heart rate is not read out of Health Connect, is never written to Health Connect, and is never saved to the app's database — it exists only while the ride is in progress.
When your watch and phone are paired, the two apps also exchange ride data directly with each other over the Wear OS data layer, so that a ride you start on the watch shows live on the phone and a finished watch ride is added to your phone's ride list. This is a direct link between your own two devices; it does not pass through any server of ours.
How it is stored and shared
Health Connect data is stored only in the app's private local database on your device.
MTBMap Nordic has no server of its own. Health Connect data is never uploaded to us, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising or analytics.
You can revoke MTBMap Nordic's access at any time in your Health Connect settings, which stops all further reading and writing.
Security
Health Connect data is held in app-private storage protected by the Android application sandbox and your device's own encryption. It is not transmitted off the device other than over the direct phone-to-watch link described above.
Apple HealthKit (iOS only)
This section applies only to the MTBMap Nordic app for iPhone and its Apple Watch companion. The Android app does not use HealthKit; it uses Health Connect, which is described in the previous section.
What we write
When you finish a ride, MTBMap Nordic saves it to Health as a cycling workout together with the ride's GPS route. The iPhone app writes:

The Apple Watch app writes the same workout and route data for a ride recorded on the watch, and additionally writes active energy burned.
What we read
The iPhone app reads workouts, workout routes, and heart rate. The Apple Watch app reads workouts, workout routes, heart rate, cycling distance, and active energy burned.
The purpose is the same as on Android: so that rides you recorded in another app or on another device appear in MTBMap Nordic's own ride list and can be timed against trail segments, and so that your ride history survives reinstalling the app. Only workouts of activity type Cycling are used. Workouts of every other activity type, and every other Health data type, are ignored and never read.
MTBMap Nordic uses HealthKit background delivery. This lets iOS wake the app when a new cycling workout is saved to Health, so a ride recorded elsewhere is imported without you having to open the app first.
How it is stored and shared
Health data is stored only in the app's private local database on your device.
MTBMap Nordic has no server of its own. Health data is never uploaded to us, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising or analytics.

Third-party ad servers or ad networks uses technologies like cookies, JavaScript, or Beacons that are used in their respective advertisements and links that appear on MTBMap Nordic. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. These technologies are used to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns and/or to personalize the advertising content that you see on this app or other apps or websites.
Note that MTBMap Nordic has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.
Third Party Privacy Policies
MTBMap Nordic's Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.
Children's Information
Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.
MTBMap Nordic does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our App, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
Online Privacy Policy Only
This Privacy Policy applies only to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our App with regards to the information that they shared and/or collect in MTBMap Nordic.
